Artist Statement:

My research focuses on the spectrum of intimacy that exists within interpersonal relationships, public and private spaces, and queer communities. My paintings saturate queer figures in bold luxurious colors challenging the historical gaze of who gets to be seen. Through each depiction I am blending, melting, and separating figure and ground relationship, representative of an everyday queer experience. My work is informed by images I take when visiting lesbian centered queer bars across the country. In an age of increased policing around queer bodies- specifically trans bodies- it is vital for queer spaces to continue to act as havens for mutual aid, connection, and support. My work depicts queer intimacy and the traces left behind as we love and fight for one another.
